About me
Who are you?
I am Emil Jacobs. I am a communist involved in Dutch labour movement, such as seventeen years in the Socialist Party (SP) and the Federation of Trade Unions (FNV). This website started as a collective effort but evolved into a one man shop run by me. The opinions on this website are therefore my own, unless stated otherwise.
Where can I find you on social media?
On social media I'm active on mastodon. I'm also on other social media, but mastodon is where you'll find my social media home.
What is your mission?
Because nuclear energy is so taboo on the left, there are many misconceptions at different levels on this subject. I have therefore broken down my mission into a number of goals.
- Education about nuclear energy: this concerns mainly a “technical” aspect. After all, the discussion must take place on the basis of accurate information. I will therefore also respond to disinformation where necessary.
- Breaking open the discussion on the left: I want to take the subject out of the taboo, and you do that by talking about it. I will therefore provide input and (co-)organize meetings at appropriate times.
- I contribute to left theory and positions: as a communist, active in the labour movement, nuclear energy is not merely a technical matter. I therefore think about a more fundamental left strategy, taking ecomodernism as a starting point.
These goals may overlap or be separate in my activities.
Are you part of anything?
Yes, I participate in the civil movement Kern voor Klimaat which is a campaign started by WePlanet Netherlands. I'm also active for the e-Lise Foundation. Politically I'm linked to the Socialisten.
